My kitchen must haves – Part 5

What are you kitchen must haves?

You’re jumping into the middle of a 5-part series on what I need to work in my kitchen. (You’ve reached the last part!)

Today’s must have:

KitchenAid stand mixer

This is, hands down, my favorite (non-handmade) Christmas gift this past year. (Thanks, Mom and Dad!) I have gotten so much use out of this thing – it’s crazy. I used it within the first week of getting it. My first dish: slow cooker mashed potatoes for our Christmas dinner (they were delicious, by the way).

Since then, I have mixed brownies, cakes, muffins, liquid portions of my casseroles, pie mixtures, breads…so many things! I love how simple it is to use. I love that while it’s mixing, I can clean up other dishes I have used. I love the large bowl (5 quarts) – I can easily do double recipes without overflowing the bowl. I love that it has a wide range of attachments. From a pasta roller to a ravioli maker to a grinder to a grain mill to an ice cream bowl – it has so many options (…although, I think I would only get use out of the ice cream bowl…)!

And those are my kitchen necessities. I didn’t know what I was missing until I discovered these items and their variety of uses. And, since I have, there’s no turning back. (And, don’t try to take any of these things away from me!)
